Esse?s Koira mine gets 5-star rating

Koira iron ore mine of Essel Mining & Industries (EMIL), has been conferred the five-star rating by the Union Ministry of Mines. The criteria chosen for the recognition are managing impacts at the mine level, final/progressive mine closure and landscape restoration, addressing social impacts of R&R requirements, community engagement & welfare programmes, and assurance & reporting.

The 13th International Mining and Machinery Exhibition 2016 (IMME 2016) held during November 16-19 concluded with a positive note on a possible turnaround of Indian mining industry in the coming years. The 13th Global Mining Summit (GMS) 2016 also held concurrently with the IMME 2016.

Centre wants to revive iron ore mining

The Union government is very keen to restart iron ore mining in the country and export more quantity of ore, said Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on August 22. He added that the government need to find a way to export iron ore. Production of steel is vital for the country's manufacturing sector, he said.
